Junior High
The Monmouth-Roseville Jr. High boys basketball teams swept United Tuesday night to start their season. The 7th Grade Titans won 35-30. Leading Monmouth-Roseville in scoring was Rhett Willett and Jaylen Tutt each had 10 points. United was led by 11 points from Keaton Simpson. Monmouth-Roseville’s 8th Grade beat the Red Storm 40-23. Leading scorers for the Titans were Silas Braun with 9 points and Max Cole with 8 points. United was led in scoring by AJ Jenks with ten points and Payton Crain with five points.
The ICS Trojan boys were at Williamsfield last night. Trailing by ten points heading to the 4th quarter, the Trojan 7th grade won an overtime thriller 36-29. Leo Mahoney led ICS with 16 points, which included eight points in the 4th quarter and three in the overtime period. The ICS 8th grade also defeated the Bombers by a score of 42-29. Nick Lewis-Bresnahan had 14 to lead the Trojans. CJ Johnson was also in double figures with 12 points.
The Churchill Junior High 7th and 8th grade boys basketball teams swept Abingdon-Avon. The 7th grade Blue Streaks beat the Tornadoes 61-18. Jace Keith led Churchill with 11 points and Ayden Alamguer added 10 points for the Streaks. Churchill won the 9th grade game 51-4. Jakvious Martin and Eaton Steck were both in double figures for Churchill, with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
In junior high girls basketball last night, The Monmouth-Roseville Titans also had a sweep of both of their games against Rockridge. The 7th Grade Lady Titans won the first game of the night, 36-12. Leading scorers for the Titans were Gracie Oma with 10 points and Lindsey Hull with 7 points. Their overall record is 12-6 and conference record is 7-3. The 8th grade Lady Titans beat Rockridge 21-16. Leading the Titans in scoring was Addisyn Switzer, Lexi Finnicum, and Mariah Reading each with 4pts. Overall record 13-7. Conference record 5-5. Next games for Monmouth-Roseville is the Prairieland Conference Tournament this Saturday in Knoxville.
