Playing for the first time in 10 days, the Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball team shrugged off a sluggish first half and went on to blow out St. Ambrose JV 69-44 on Thursday night at John M. Lewis Gymnasium for its fifth straight victory. The Fighting Bees scored eight of the first 10 in the opening minute of the second half to take a 36-31 lead before the Chargers (7-2) went on a 16-0 run over the next 7½ minutes to take the lead for good. Sophomore forward Deandrey Robison (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) scored a game-high 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting and blocked a pair of shots for CSC. Freshman guard Scott Gowan (Rockford, Ill./Rockford East) scored 14 points on 5 of 9 shots. Freshman Carter Fayhee (Macomb, Ill./Macomb) grabbed a team-best eight rebounds and handed out a team-leading three assists. The Chargers will have a quick turnaround as they take on Missouri State-West Plains, ranked 16th in Division I, today in the Reed Overhead Door Classic hosted by Indian Hills.
