Saturday March 16th, the Buchanan Center for the Arts will be holding the opening reception for their 51st Town and Country Art Show. The show features artwork from local students, kindergarten through twelfth grade, from Mercer, Warren, and Henderson County schools. Executive Director Kristyne Gilbert has more:
“The artwork that is submitted is really of the highest caliber. Whether you are starting out in your arts career as a kindergarten student or finishing up your high school years as a senior trying to build your portfolio for high school or moving onto college. It really is a wonderful opportunity to see the growth and change and challenges that students face and how it is reflected in their artwork,” Gilbert shares.
The opening reception will be held 2 until 4pm in the BCA gallery with the winners being announced at 3pm.
The Buchanan Center for the Arts is seeking an artist for their new Artist in Resident program that will engage with the Monmouth community. Gilbert shares more on what the opportunity entails:
“We are looking for an individual to work with us, as well as the community to paint a mural on the South side of the Buchanan Center exterior wall. As well as teach classes at our partner locations, Jamieson Center and the Warren County Housing Authority. Also, create some of their own artwork and have a gallery talk and exhibition,” states Gilbert.
The deadline for entry is Saturday March 30th.
