The Henderson County Steering Committee needs the help of residents in Henderson County. The committee is in the process of updating the Henderson County Multi-jurisdictional Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan and is inviting all residents to complete a survey on their knowledge of and risk from natural hazards.
According to University of Illinois Extension Educator Carrie McKillip, who is facilitating the plan update, this is a crucial part of the planning process. “We first did this survey in 2009 when the flood of 2008 was fresh in everyone’s mind. By using the same questions, we can compare responses and see where the community is concerning awareness and preparedness.
The survey can be completed by going to https://go.illinois.edu/HMSurvey. If you would prefer a paper copy, it can be picked up at the Extension Office in Stronghurst, or by contacting Cindy Brown, Henderson County Emergency Manager at 309-867-2780. The survey will remain open until April 30, 2019 and the results will be summarized in the Hazard Mitigation Plan update.
