Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 14th, 2019:
Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman softball player, Karliegh Ashby. Karleigh had a great hitting week for the Titans. In three games she was 4-for-5 at the plate. Two of those hits were for extra bases. All of this while also throwing most of the innings for the Titan pitching staff as well.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Alec Thompson. In a 3-game stretch last week, nobody was as hot at the plate as Alec. He was 5-for-10 and scored three runs. Alec also knocked in five runs and showed the rare combination of speed and power. He ripped two doubles and also stole a pair of bases.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore baseball player, Jordon Roller. Jordon’s bat was on fire last week in four games for the Heat. He was 7-for-11, scoring six runs in the process. He smashed three doubles and even stole a few bases. Jordon even got a break from the tough catching position to pitch six innings as well.
The A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Nick Inness. Wow, what a day Nick had at the plate in a double header sweep over Peoria Heights. He was 4-for-7 in the two games. Nick scored three runs and totaled three extra base hits, including two doubles and a grand slam home run.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior boys tennis player, Chris Pamatmat. Chris brought home some hardware from the Pekin Invitational on Saturday. He was a perfect (3-0) at #3 singles. Chris only dropped one set the entire day, defeating two of his opponents in straight sets. As a team, the Silver Streak boys took 3rd place out of eight
