Here’s the WMOI/WRAM Athletes of the Week for the week ending April 21st, 2019:
The Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is sophomore baseball player, Jack Thompson. Jack went 5-for-9 last week in two Titan wins. He scored four runs and also had a double among his five safeties. To top things off, Jack pitched a complete game, shutout against Farmington. He scattered four hits and struck out four Farmer hitters.
The United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore softball player Jordan Lantz. Jordan played a big role in a pair of Red Storm wins last week. She was 5-for-7 at the plate. Among Jordan’s five hits were two doubles and a grand slam home run in a win against Galva. She also scored five runs and totaled eight rbis.
The West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is junior baseball player, Nate Bigger. Nate had a fantastic day at the plate and the mound in a double header sweep over Stark County. Hitting-wise, he was 6-for-10 with two doubles and five rbis. Nate’s final hit of the nightcap brought home the winning run. He also pitched the first seven innings of game one, giving up only two earned runs and scattering four hits, with eight strikeouts.
The A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior boys track and field athlete, Jay Allbright. Jay ran himself to a pair of medals at the Knoxville Blue Bullet Invitational. He placed 2nd in the 100 meter dash and followed that up with another runner up finish in the 200 meter dash. As the sectional meet draws near, Jay seems to be getting faster.
The Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior baseball player, Andrew Thomas. Andrew’s great week started with a walk-off double in a win over Lincoln. That performance began a 3-game stretch where he went 6-for-9 with four rbis, two doubles and a triple.
