Mulch & Compost Available at Galesburg Oversized Brush Drop-off Site

Share

Galesburg, IL (May 20, 2019) Galesburg residents have a free resource available to them as they prepare their flower and vegetable gardens. Mulch and compost are available to Galesburg residents free of charge at the oversized brush drop-off site, located at 636 Pickard Road, just west of Farm King on West Main Street. The products are available to pick up during the facilities operating hours, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., seasonally. The facility operates mid-March through mid-November each year. Mulch and compost are provided on a self-serve basis and residents should bring their own shovel to load the material.

The compost originates from the Knox County Landfill from yard waste that has been brought to the landfill. The mulch that is available is chipped by City staff using brush and limbs from throughout the community. In addition to providing mulch and compost to residents, the drop-off site is available for Galesburg residents to dispose of brush and limbs, which exceed the allowable limit for curbside pick-up. Leaves and grass clippings are not accepted at the drop-off site.

For questions about the oversized brush drop-off site, contact the Public Works Department at 309/345-3623.
