Going into their loser’s bracket semi-final game on Friday in Farmington, Monmouth Junior Legion Post 136 had garnered two victories after losing their opening round game to Oneida. They took on Oneida Post 727 once again, and once again fell, this time 5-4 on a walkoff RBI groundout in the bottom of the 7th inning. Monmouth, who finishes the summer at (11-14-1), was led at the plate by Evan Wynne and Brannock McVey’s two hits apiece. Dylan Cheline had an RBI double as well. Moline now moves on to the Illinois State Tournament in Salem. They’ll play at 11 am on Thursday morning.

In the Senior Third Division tournament in Jerseyville, Quincy Post 37 continued their torrid offensive pace in the championship game against Peoria Post 2, winning 13-6. That was the closest margin of victory in the four games in which Quincy won during the week, as they outscored their opponents 66-23 during their undefeated run. Peoria beat District 14 champ, Moline, 8-5 on Friday afternoon.
