Local high school and junior high school sports update for Aug. 18th, 2017

Golf
The Ridgewood boys golf team lost its first match of the season, losing to Peru-St. Bede 170-172 at Baker Park in Kewanee. The Spartans did beat Kewanee 172-184, however, in the triangular meet. Levi Swanson shot a 40 to lead Ridgewood.

Junior High
The ICS Trojan junior high baseball team was held to one hit in a 5-3 loss to A-Town in their home opener at Monmouth’s Field of Dreams yesterday. Kaleb Barry had the lone knock for the Trojans, who fell to (3-1) with the loss.

The United Red Storm junior high baseball team remained undefeated on the season at (4-0) with another dominating 11-0 victory over Stark County. The Storm offense pounded out ten hits and Nolan Leffler pitched a 5-inning no-hitter, striking out eleven batters in the process. Leading the United offense was Austin Thompson and Carter Cassiday with two hits each.
