Monmouth-Roseville Presents Deficit Spending Budget

Share

Monmouth-Roseville Superintendent Ed Fletcher and the Board of Education face challenges again this school year due to decisions surrounding education funding through the State of Illinois. At this month’s regularly scheduled school board meeting, Fletcher presented to the board a deficit budget that contained approximately $3.8 million dollars in state aid that is currently undecided on when or how it will be received.

“We approved a tentative budget with deficit spending in our education fund of $3.8 million dollars.  We made a budget without general state aid because that’s what we know right now. We don’t know when we are going to get funding. ”  Monmouth-Roseville Superintendent Ed Fletcher

Fletcher will host a town hall meeting that is open to the public on Thursday night, August 10th, at 6:30 p.m. in the high school’s auditorium. Fletcher and the school board will begin to create a deficit reduction plan for District 238, and submit that information to the state of Illinois. A state payment of $325,000 will not be received today by the district for their general education fund.
