Roseville Community Center Homecoming

Share

The Roseville Community Center will hold it’s “Homecoming,” an annual fundraiser for the Center, this Saturday, Aug. 19th, starting at 8:00 a.m. The event will start with a breakfast put on by the Roseville Rehabilitation Healthcare Facility, followed by the Ellen Becraft Memorial Tot Trot at 9:00 a.m., and a silent and live auction at 9:30 a.m. The auctions include Cardinals-Cubs tickets, barn quilts, wine tasting, baked goods, and various services provided by local businesses.

In January of 2011, Roseville Elementary School – now the Community Center – was nearly shut down. Members of the community approached the school board about transferring the ownership of the building over to the Village of Roseville.

“We were told that there was a chance that the school district would transfer the building to the village, but we needed 745 signatures on a petition,” Van Adkisson, Vice President of the Community Center Board of Directors, said.

After garnering 1,015 signatures in just three days, the building officially belonged to the village of Roseville. Since then, the Community Center has become home to a daycare center, YMCA, a food pantry, and a memorabilia room filled with old Roseville relics.
