The Warren County Sheriff’s Office Charity Golf Outing will be held this Saturday, Aug. 26th, starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Monmouth Country Club. Proceeds will go toward the Strom Center and the Monmouth Police Department’s youth fishing derby. Sheriff Martin Edwards urges golfers to come out and enjoy the event to support a great cause.

“We wanted to do something to raise some money, and then turn around and make charitable contributions here in the Monmouth area,” Sheriff Edwards said. “Charity golf came about, and it started to grow. We do have sponsors throwing in with us now, so we’re very pleased with that. I don’t know how many (golfers) have signed up yet, but I think it’s starting to come together.”

The golfing portion of the event starts at 1:00 p.m. Teams will be configured in a four-person best-ball format. Cash prizes will be awarded for various accolades such as longest drive, longest putt, shortest drive, closest to the pin, and more. You may want to save your best shot for last – Hole No. 18, however.

“We have a $20,000 cash prize if you can make a hole-in-one. Of course, somebody will be there to watch the hole to make sure everything is on the up-and-up. I didn’t even know it was possible to do that, but we actually bought an insurance policy to make something exciting. We really hope somebody wins it,” Edwards said.

After golf, a pork chop dinner is scheduled to start at 6:00 p.m. Golf and the dinner is $55. Golf itself is $35. The dinner will be $20. For more information, you can contact the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 309-734-8506 or via email at wcsogolf@gmail.com.
