Braatz Educates on Upcoming Clean-Up Event

Monmouth’s Solid Waste Coordinator Chad Braatz wanted to remind citizens of the curbside clean-up that will be going on from Oct. 16th-21st. Some notable items that the city will not pick up during this clean-up include: yard waste, liquid waste such as paint and antifreeze, gasoline, tires, batteries, large auto/truck parts, florescent light bulbs, electronic waste, etc. Braatz wants people to take the time to organize their waste to help out the clean-up crew.

“We need to have everything bundled or bagged. In the past, we have had people go through these piles and tear the bags open. It just takes forever to get it cleaned up. We want to make sure that your loose material is in some kind of container so we can pick it up,” Braatz stated.

Items should be placed at the curb for collection the night before your regular service day. Clean up collection will begin at 6:00 a.m.

On Saturday, the last day of the event, the city will have a Community Shred Day at the Transfer Station/Compost site just off of South 11th Street from 9:00 a.m. to noon. This will give people a chance to dispose of sensitive recyclable documents such as personal and legal documents, junk mail, tax forms, and checks. You do not need to remove paper clips, staples, or rubber bands from your documents.

For more information, contact Braatz at 309-255-5076.
