Davies Excited for Start of Cub Scouts

The Cub Scouts of Warren County will hold a county-wide recruitment meeting tonight at Lincoln Elementary School. The meeting will start at 6:30. Trevor Davies, leader of United Pack 350 out of Kirkwood, says that this year, the Cub Scouts of Warren County are going to have a choice on which pack they would like to join.
“They’re going to be able to make a choice if they would like to join. Maybe someone’s schedule works better for them to join the Roseville pack, or the Kirkwood pack, or the Monmouth pack. It doesn’t matter where you live in the county. You can choose whichever pack you want to join,” Davies said.

Boys in grades 1st through 5th are encouraged to join the Cub Scouts. Along with learning valuable life skills and values, children will get to participate in numerous fun-filled opportunities such as pine wood derby, shooting bb guns, campouts, and a Quad City Mallards game. Davies is especially thankful that he gets to spend time with his two sons as part of the Cub Scouts program.

“It’s just a lot of fun,” Davies said. “It’s a great opportunity for kids to make friends outside of their normal group of friends. It’s a chance for them to learn life-long skills. Also, it’s a good chance for me to spend time with both my sons. It’s a great opportunity for us to go off and do something with just us.”

If you’re unable to attend the informational meeting tonight at Lincoln, a flyer should have been sent home with children in Warren County with a slip at the bottom to sign up. You can mail that form to District Executive Allison Hupfer, or contact Davies at 309-734-0713 for more information.
