A couple of exciting events will be taking place in Galesburg in the coming days. This Saturday, Sept. 23rd, the first ever Food Truck & Art Festival, which was organized by the Young Professionals of Galesburg, will start at 11:00 a.m. and last until 7:00 p.m. Jessica Linder of the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce gave more details on this fun event.

“One of the things we asked our food trucks when we were accepting applications and bringing them in was – each food truck has to have a featured item that they are providing,” she said.

Nine different food trucks will be present at the event, which will be held at 235 E. Simmons St. at Parking Lot H. The gate fee is $5.00. Children 12 and under with student IDs are free. Food tickets will be $1.00, and most food items are $3.00 to $5.00. Proceeds from the event will go toward scholarship funds for the Young Professionals of Galesburg.

Along with great food, there will be live demonstrations performed by artists involved with the Galesburg Civic Art Center. There will also be arts and crafts stations for children to participate in.

The second event that Linder mentioned during her stop at the station was the highly-anticipated filming of “Fireball Run” in Galesburg, which will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 26th.

“It’s a streaming adventure series. I would describe it as a scavenger hunt to rediscover America. Each season, they take a 2,000-mile stretch of the U.S., and contestants get clues and race to find the different historic sites and artifacts and experiences along the route,” Linder said.

“Fireball Run” is currently the No. 1 streaming series on Amazon. Each season, there are eight featured locations in a designated area for contestants to compete and find clues in. Between each of those cities, there is an interactive city chosen for contestants to explore and find even more clues. Galesburg was chosen as one of those smaller cities.

The filming will start at 12:30 p.m., and it will take place in Downtown Galesburg at the corner of Simmons and Seminary St. Linder encourages Galesburg residents and anyone else who would like to be a part of this unique event to come out and support.

“For our community, we think it’s really awesome to be able to come together and do these things. With an opportunity like Fireball Run, we also get to show the world what we look like as a community, so we want to be out there and be out there together for that,” she said.
