MONMOUTH, Ill. – The first game after the Midwest Conference bye week certainly agreed with Monmouth’s Micam Smith (Annawan, Ill./Annawan) who helped the Scots to a shutout win over Macalester last Saturday and earned the Midwest Conference Defensive Performer of the Week honor for his efforts.
Smith came up big for Monmouth in the 26-0 blanking of Macalester, the first game back for each team after a week off. The senior defensive back picked off a pair of passes, returning them a total of 23 yards and broke up another as Monmouth’s defense surrendered just 110 total yards. Both interceptions came at crucial times in the second half and each set up scores. Smith also added three tackles on the day.
