PBF Princess Pageant Royalty Talk About Experience

Share

Plenty of talent and beauty took the stage at Monmouth College’s Dahl Chapel last Saturday night for the 2017 Prime Beef Festival Princess Pageant. Here is this year’s court:

“My name is Grace Young. I am your 2017 Warren County Prime Beef Festival Princess. My parents are Brian and April Young. I go to Monmouth-Roseville High School. For my talent, I sang ‘Turning Tables by Adele.'”

“My name is Vada Gregory. I’m your 1st Runner Up this year. My parents are Heather and Jeff Gregory. I go to United School. For my talent, I played my clarinet.”

“My name is Courtney Fisher. I am your 2nd Runner Up. My parents are Mike and Heather Fisher. I go to Monmouth-Roseville High School. I sang ‘To Make You Feel My Love’ by Adele.”

“My name is Chloe Russell. I am your 3rd Runner Up. My parents are Mitch and Julie Russell. I go to Monmouth-Roseville High School. I sang ‘The Girl You Think I Am’ by Carrie Underwood.”

Even with practices for the pageant starting in mid-July, the competitors still admitted that answering on-the-spot questions, and performing their talents in front of a crowd, can be nerve-racking.

With college majors ranging anywhere from forensic chemistry, speech patheology, and biopsychology, the 2017 court has some lofty goals moving forward. 1st Runner Up Vada Gregory chose an Eleanor Roosevelt quote for the pageant that could be inspirational for all 11 of this year’s Princess Pageant contestants moving forward.

“‘You must do the thing you think you cannot do.’ I chose this quote because I believe that it’s important to step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself so you can learn and grow from those experiences,” Gregory said.

Look for this year’s Prime Beef Festival royalty at the WRAM 25th Annual Farmer’s Breakfast on Friday, Sept. 8th, at the Monmouth Country Club starting at 7:30 a.m.
