Pheasants Forever's James Promotes Upcoming Outdoors Events

Wildlife Biologist Scott James stopped by the studio to talk about some upcoming events for his organization – Pheasants Forever. James specializes in habitat planning and conservation programs for quail and pheasants in Warren, Knox, Mercer, Henry, and Rock Island counties.
“There’s a Quail Forever Banquet in Macomb at the VFW Hall at 5 o’clock on Sept. 30th. This is the first annual McDonough County Quail Forever Banquet. Quail Forever is a sister organization to Pheasants Forever. Quail Forever is focused on quail and other wildlife. The proceeds from this banquet – the 30th – will go towards local habitat projects and local outreach projects,” James said.
James mentioned that there would be plenty of firearms at the event, but reassured that it would be a family-safe environment. He also encourages aspiring hunters, particularly Western Illinois University students, to take part in a new program called “Learn to Hunt.” That will take place on Oct. 21st and 22nd from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Argyle Lake.
“That’s another really great event for people to get engaged in the outdoors, and learn how to safely hunt for food, for fun, to spend time with friends and family, and have a healthy lifestyle,” James said.
