Switzer Forewarns of Crime in Monmouth

Monmouth Police Chief Joe Switzer shared some insight on recent drug activity in and around Monmouth. Switzer has been pushing for the West Central Illinois Task Force, which is made up of various police departments throughout the area, to start working in Monmouth more. Ultimately, Switzer believes the move will pay dividends.

“We’re going to go after them and hit them hard. If you’re buying or selling drugs in Monmouth, sooner or later, we’re going to get you,” Switzer said.

Switzer listed cocaine, methamphetamine, and heroin as drugs that are known to be in the community. He encourages Monmouth citizens to contact Warren County Crime Stoppers if they have knowledge of a crime or an incident. It is completely anonymous, and you can earn a reward if your tip contributes to an arrest. Switzer also touched on another problem that has reappeared in the community.

“We’re having people get their cars broken into again. It’s mainly because they’re not locking their doors. You’ve got to lock your doors on your vehicle. No matter where they’re at, you’ve got to lock the doors on your vehicles,” Switzer said.

To contact Warren County Crime Stoppers, call 309-734-9363.
