Theatre Professor Zank Talks Fusion Fest

Share

Ron Zank, Assistant Professor of Theatre at Monmouth College, came by to promote upcoming events at the College. Fusion Fest was the focus of Zank’s theatre program updates – an event that puts theatre students’ quick thinking to the test.
“Our students actually write plays in 24 hours. We’ll get the playwrights together with directors and some actors. We’ll pull some names out of a hat. The playwrights have about 12 hours to write a 10-minute play,” Zank said.
Students are not limited on what the subject of their play can be, but the time constraints make this project challenging. Students start brainstorming their plays on Friday, Sept. 8th, and must bring their 10-minute production to life prior to the deadline set for Saturday, Sept. 9th. Zank encourages people to come check out the plays because you never know what you’re going to see.
“It’s three dollars,” Zank said. “It’s a low investment. You never know what you’re going to get. The nice thing with an evening of 10-minute plays is – 10 minutes and you’re onto something else – so if you don’t like that one, the next one’s coming really soon.”
2017 marks the fourth year of Fusion Fest. The event starts at 7:30 p.m., and will be held at 230 South Main Street at the Fusion Theatre.
