Your Area Athletes of the Week for the week ending Sept. 5th, 2017

Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Brock Bigger. Brock was a force in the running game for the Heat in their non-conference 42-32 win over the South Fulton Rebels. He rushed for 147 yards on 31 carries, scoring two touchdowns in the process.

Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Kobe Ramirez. In a 40-29 win over Glenbard South, Kobe ran for 130 yards on 19 carries. He scored four of the Silver Streak’s six touchdowns in the game.

Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Baylee McKeown. Baylee handed out 17 assists in a recent Red Storm win over Class 3A Macomb. She averaged 16 assists through her team’s first three matches, all United wins.

Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore football player, Lukas Tinkham. As the Tornado quarterback, Lukas led an offensive onslaught in his team’s 59-20 win over Ridgewood. He was 5-for-10 passing, totaling 106 yards. Two of those five completions went for touchdowns.

Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior soccer player, Gilberto Vazquez. Gilberto had a big hand in his team’s championship finish in the East Peoria Raider Classic. He scored six goals over four matches, including a hat-trick against Peoria Manual in the title clinching win.
