Cox Dishes on Oktoberfest at Gerlaw Christian Church

Lorna Cox with the Gerlaw Christian Church came by to get the word out about an upcoming fundraiser. Next Sunday, Oct. 29th, the Church will be hosting their first annual Oktoberfest-themed dinner event. Cox talked about what to expect on the menu.

“We’re trying to just mix things up a little bit and maybe encourage some of the younger families to come out. We’re going to have an Oktoberfest, so it’s going to be more like brauts, hot dogs, sauerkraut, German potato salad, coleslaw, and homemade apple strudel for dessert,” Cox said.

The fundraiser will run from 4:30 to 7 p.m. that evening. The staple food item from the event according to Cox will be the 9-inch take-and-bake frozen pies, which will be for sale for $15.

Money from previous fundraisers this year at the Church have gone toward new flooring in the basement. The proceeds from Oktoberfest could be used toward upgrading the stained glass windows at the Church according to Cox.
