Fletcher Recaps Latest School Board Meeting

Monmouth-Roseville’s Superintendent Ed Fletcher talked about the latest developments from around the district. Among the topics discussed at the latest school board meeting on Tuesday night was the rise in health insurance rates for the district’s employees.

“Although we had no plan design changes, rates went up 6.9 percent. That’s not always something that you like to see, but that’s par for the course. You talk to other business owners and school districts, and some of them are seeing some pretty hefty increases,” Fletcher said.

Fletcher reminded parents of the upcoming FAFSA meeting at the Library Media Center at the high school, which is tonight at 7 p.m, and the “Blingo Bingo” fundraiser on Saturday at the VFW. Principals Jeff Ewing of Harding Primary School and Joe Pilger of Lincoln Early Childhood School will be the hosts for the night and will be putting on a performance of some kind. “Blingo Bingo” will start at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m.

Superintendent Fletcher also recapped the Hall of Achievement ceremony on Sept. 23 that honored four former Monmouth or Roseville school district graduates from past classes that have gone on to achieve extraordinary things in life. Those inductees included: Michael Salaway, Chris Byers, Lupe Garcia, and J.P. Machado.

“It was an awesome time. To have people come back who work for Intel, or started their own rehab business, or work for Boeing – to see them come back and talk about what the teachers in Monmouth and Roseville meant to them, it was really powerful to see,” Fletcher said.
