Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Oct. 12th, 2017

Golf

Monmouth-Roseville junior golfer, Nick Corman, just missed the cut in the Class 1A Havana Sectional yesterday at Crane Creek Golf Course in Kilbourne. Corman carded an 81, with the final individual golfer not on an advancing team, shooting an 80. Nick’s teammates, Reese Kane and JC Sells each had rounds of 89. Knoxville’s Logan Thompson shot an 88 as well. Ridgewood is the team champion, led by freshman Thomas Bumann’s 76. Levi Swanson carded an 82, Riley Nelson had an 83 and Gannon Greenman scored an 85 to round out the Spartan scoring. Pleasant Plains and Williamsville will also advance to the state finals starting tomorrow in Bloomington.

Junior High

The Monmouth-Roseville 7th and 8th grade dropped a pair of Prairieland Conference games to Knoxville. The Titan 7th grade lost by seven points and were led by Addi Switzer’s nine points and Chevelle Wolf’s six. The Monmouth-Roseville 8th grade lost 43-17 to the Blue Bullets. Cristina Dilley led Monmouth-Roseville with six points and Megan Noel chipping in with four.

The United Red Storm swept Cambridge last night at home. The Red Storm 7th grade won 22-7, led by Nyota Feza’s 7 points. Alice Mono scored six points as well for United. The United 8th graders defeated the Lady Vikings 36-21. Luci Kane led the Red Storm with 12 points. Karragan Sperry was also in double figures with ten points.

The Churchill Blue Streaks 7th and 8th graders swept Stark County on the road in Wyoming. Churchill won the 7th grade game 27-25 and the Blue Streak 8th graders were victorious 43-14. Churchill’s 7th graders were led by Cayman Milroy, Parker Cash and Hannah Dillbeck with six points each. The Blue Streak 8th graders were led in scoring by Grace Nelson’s 12 points.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan 7th and 8th grade football teams hosted Orion for a pair of games. The Titan 8th grade fell to the Chargers 6-0 in a defensive battle. The Monmouth-Roseville 7th grade is now (3-3) overall and (3-2) in the Prairieland Conference. The Titan 7th grade had trouble scoring as well, falling 24-0 to the Chargers.

Search Warrant Leads to Two Drug Arrests

On 03/15/24 at approximately 1700 hours, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office deputies and members of the West Central Illinois Special Response Team served a search warrant in the 600 block of
