Milroy and Red Storm Hungry for First Win

With just two games remaining on the schedule, the United Red Storm are still searching for their first win of 2017. Regardless of the win-loss record, head coach David Milroy has seen growth and improvement all year long. That was evident last Friday when the Red Storm produced their second-highest scoring output of the season against Stark County.

The Red Storm will be on the road for back-to-back games to finish the season, starting tonight in Aledo. Milroy knows that a win on the road against a historically strong program like Mercer County could do wonders for his team’s mindset, not only to finish 2017, but beyond.

“We don’t have anything to lose. We have two more weeks. We have two more opportunities to go out there and play this awesome game that we all love. To knock them off tomorrow night would be a highlight of a lot of those kids career, and it would be a great way to start closing out the season,” Milroy said.

Sitting at 3-4 overall, the Mercer County Golden Eagles need to win out to clinch a playoff berth. Coach Milroy and the Red Storm have a chance to play spoiler tonight. Milroy gave his keys to the game for his team.

“At the end of the day, we have to control the line of the scrimmage, we have to get a push, and we have to be able to pass protect. If we can do that, I like our chances of competing,” he said.

Tonight’s United vs. Mercer County matchup can be heard on 1330 WRAM. Kickoff from Aledo is scheduled for 7 p.m.
