With two games remaining in the 2017 high school football season, Jeremy Adolphson and his Monmouth-Roseville Titans aren’t where they thought they would be heading into Week 8. Having lost three games by seven points or less, the 2-5 Titans won’t be playing postseason football this year. But Adolphson is hopeful that playing back-to-back games at home will motivate the Titans to finish strong.
“I’ve really been happy with the way we’ve practiced this week. I think we’ve got a bunch of good guys regardless. I think they are going to play hard for each other and try to get a win tonight,” he said.
The Titans will welcome the 2-5 Princeton Tigers to town on Friday night. The Tigers primarily run a single-wing offense, which should test the defensive discipline of the Titans. Monmouth-Roseville’s defense surrendered just 12 points in their rainy Week 7 matchup with Peru St. Bede – their second lowest amount of points allowed this season. Coach Adolphson talked about the keys to stopping the Tiger attack.
“Princeton has a pretty athletic team. They run the single-wing, so it’s going to be being disciplined, staying home, reading your keys. They do some things where linemen end up opposite of where the ball ends up, so we have to do a really good job of staying home,” Adolphson said.
