Here’s your local high school Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 17th, 2017:
 
Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Danyel McKune. The West Central Heat won the BPC Round Robin Invitational and Danyel played a big part of it. She averaged over 5 kills and 3.5 blocks during her team’s (5-0) run through the tourney.
 
Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior football player, Josh Asher. Josh played a great defensive game against a powerful Farmington Farmer offense in a Prairieland Conference cross-division contest. He made 9 solo tackles and recorded one sack as well.
 
Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is sophomore volleyball player, Carly Gillen. Carly was named to her third all-tournament team this season at the conclusion of the Shirt Tales Classic Tournament in Sherrard. She totaled 42 kills in five matches during her team’s run to a 3rd place finish.
 
Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is sophomore volleyball player, Jerzi Johnson. Jerzi was named to the All-Tournament team at the recently completed Shirts Tales Classic Invitational at Sherrard High School. Her play at the net helped the Red Storm to finish in second place in the tournament.
 
Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Emily Meinert. Emily had a fantastic weekend at the Limestone Fall Classic Tournament. She averaged nearly four blocks and five digs in her team’s five matches. She also had four kills and six digs against Peoria Notre earlier in the week.
