Your WMOI/WRAM/WAIK Area Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24th, 2017

Here’s your local high school Athletes of the Week for the week ending Oct. 24th, 2017:

Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior soccer player, Kyaw Thang. Kyaw has scored 20 goals this season but none were more important than his goal in the sectional finals. His overtime goal with just over 3 minutes remaining gave the Titans their first sectional championship.

Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Brock Noles. Brock hauled in a touchdown catch in his team’s win over Ridgewood in week 9. That capped a year in which he finished as the all-time leading wide receiver in United High School history, catching 45 passes for nearly 500 yards.

Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior cross country runner, Freemie Shoemaker. Freemie will end his highly decorated high school career on a high note as he qualified for the Elmwood Sectional. His 10th place finish at the Mercer County regionals was plenty fast enough for him to advance and try to make the state finals for the first time.

Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Courtney Moore. Courtney’s versatile play has been steady all season for the Tornadoes. This past week, she led her team in assists in two Prairieland Conference matches. Showing that versatility, she also led A-Town in blocks against Farmington.

Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior football player, Clark Hawkins. Clark ended his final season as a Silver Streak quarterback with a bang, throwing for 193 yards against Peoria Central. He also tossed three touchdown passes in a narrow loss to the defending state champion Lions.

Congrats to all of these student-athletes!! Thanks to our AOTW sponsors, MC Sport and More, MTC Communications, Tompkins State Bank and Yemm Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Ram!!
