'A Patchwork Christmas' is Latest of Choral Dynamics Performances

Choral Dynamics of Galesburg has a special show coming up this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. A Patchwork Christmas is bringing all the pieces of the Christmas season together to create an exciting and entertaining show. Jackie Palmer of Choral Dynamics explained the inspiration behind this project:

“We came up with an idea of using quilting as a correlation to Christmas. Christmas, we thought, was filled with so many different kinds of things – Santa, children, special foods, the birth of Christ, and family. Just like a quilt, it takes all of those pieces to put together the season. So we’ve picked songs that reflect each one of those different aspects of the season,” Palmer stated.

The production features 79 members of cast and crew. The shows will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, followed by a 2 p.m. showing on Sunday, Dec. 3rd. Choral Dynamics has been performing for 41 years, and all of those shows have been put on to help support local organizations. Melissa Ruehmer, one of the four producers of the show along with Palmer, talked about the singing group’s purpose:

“The purpose of Choral Dynamics is to raise money for a local beneficiary. We have raised over half a million dollars in the 41 years for local charities. This local charity for this show is Loving Bottoms Diaper Bank,” Ruehmer said.

The show will be held at the Orpheum Theater in Galesburg. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7.50 for youth, and children 12 and under are free. Tickets can be purchased at the Orpheum box office, Orpheum website, or on the Choral Dynamics website.
