Ferry Previews 8th Annual Madrigal Dinner

The 8th Annual Madrigal Dinner will be held this weekend at Monmouth-Roseville High School. The event will extend across three days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. For Friday and Saturday night, the event will start at 7 p.m. Sunday, it will begin at 2 p.m. Choral Director at the high school, Kevin Ferry, is excited to be a part of yet another Madrigal Dinner.

“This is my playoff game kind of attitude. The nerves kick in, and the intensity kicks in. Everybody does a very good job of tolerating me this week,” he said.

The fun-filled night will start with a play, followed by a dinner consisting of ham, green beans, cheesy potatoes, salad, and cheesecake, and will finish up with performances by three singing groups, including the Madrigals. Ferry likens the event’s atmosphere and decor to that of a Harry Potter movie.

“It’s essentially a dinner theater the way we format it. We fit about 200 people into our all-purpose room – four rows of banquet tables. If you’ve ever seen Harry Potter, to me, it looks like Hogwarts, their Great Hall. You know how they have the four house tables and the head table up front,” Ferry said.

Saturday’s performance is nearly sold out, but Ferry says there are plenty of tickets available for Friday night and Sunday afternoon. Contact the high school at 734-5118 or visit the school to purchase tickets.
