Girls Basketball

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan girls basketball team won their fourth straight game on Saturday night, finishing in 3rd place at Ridgewood Thanksgiving Tournament. The Titans defeat BPC 68-55. Leading the Titan offense was Carly Gillen with 21 points. Cora Neal also had a fantastic game, and tournament, scoring 18 points in Monmouth-Roseville’s finale. Gillen was named to the All-Tournament team. Following a season-opening 47-38 loss to Knoxville, the Titans ran off four straight victories. Speaking of the Knoxville Blue Bullets, they claimed the tournament championship with a 51-34 win over Riverdale to complete a perfect (5-0) week. Also getting wins on championship day was Ridgewood winning the 5th place game 48-46 over Orion and Rockridge beating Galva for 7th place, 41-31.

Macomb split a pair of games on the final day of their tournament on Saturday. The Lady Bombers lost to Illini Bluffs 75-61, before beating Peoria Christian 72-12. Macombs end the week at (2-3). Pleasant Plains was the tourney champ, going (5-0).

It was Canton winning the Fulton County Thanksgiving Tournament, beating Lewistown in a thriller, 58-54 in overtime.

The Galesburg Girls Basketball Thanksgiving Tournament continued on Saturday. The hometown Silver Streaks won their first game of the day, 50-38 over Rockford East. Leading the Streaks in scoring was Andrea Sampson with 15 points. The Streaks lost their second game of the day, 57-31, to Springfield. Emily Meinert was the only Galesburg player in double figures with 10 points. The Streaks are now (3-1) and will wrap up their modified round-robin tournament with a game against (3-0) Danville Schlarman on Saturday at 6:00.
