Local High School and Junior High Sports Update For November 30th, 2017

Girls Basketball

The United Red Storm began Lincoln Trail Conference play with a home game vs. Galva at the Fieldhouse at United High School. The Red Storm fall to the Wildcats 50-28. Leading United in scoring was Jerzi Johnson with eight points. Shalyn Lucas also scored seven for the Storm. Galva was led by Brynn Patty and Hannah Anderson with 10 points each.

In a non-conference matchup in Oneida, the ROWVA Tigers lost to Princeville 68-35. Kalyn Garza led ROWVA with 15 points. Brinlee Brownlee was the game-high scorer with 24 for Princeville.

The Knoxville Blue Bullets moved to (8-0) on the season with a 61-27 win over Mercer County in a non-conference matchup in Knoxville. Cassie Grady led Knoxville with 13 points and Lauren Kavangh added 10

Boys Basketball

ROWVA/Williamsfield defeated Delavan in an exciting game in Williamsfield. The Cougars win a double overtime thriller 58-53. Isaac Cordle scored 21 points for R/W, who also got 13 points from Austin Batterson.

Junior High

The ICS 7th grade Lady Trojans took on Peoria Limestone for a sectional championship and a berth in the IESA State Finals this weekend. It will be ICS moving on to Assumption A & M Middle School, south of Decatur, Illinois. The Trojans win last night’s game at ICS Junior High 43-26 to improve their overall season record to (20-2). Mattie Gillen led ICS with 17 points and Ava Parkins chipped in with 13 points. The Trojans will play (20-4) Sigel St. Michaels on Saturday at 11:30 am in the Elite Eight. The state championship is set for Thursday, Dec 7th at 7:30.

In junior high boys basketball at Sherrard, the Monmouth-Roseville Titans split a pair of games against Sherrard. The 7th grade Titans won 40-20 to improve to 5-2 (2-1) on the season. Leading Monmouth-Roseville in scoring was Max Cole win 23. The 8th grade Titans are 5-2 (2-1) after falling to Sherrard 32-27. Leading the 8th grade Titans was Ben Anderson with 13.
