Robeson Ready for 2nd Annual Lecture

The 2nd Annual Wiswell-Robeson Lecture will be this Wednesday, Nov. 15th, at Dahl Chapel & Auditorium on the campus of Monmouth College. Jeanne Robeson, the creator of the lecture series, gave her reasoning behind starting this informative lecture opportunity:

“I decided that it would be a good idea to promote agriculture at the college and help both the town and the gown understand what farming is in Warren County. I think there’s a great disconnect between the two. Monmouth was settled by farmers, and our history is wonderful, and we should remember it and learn. Hopefully, that’s what this lecture series will do,” Robeson stated.

This year’s edition of the lecture, which will focus on precision agriculture, is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. Precision agriculture revolves around heavy data usage along with the integration of technology into agriculture to help increase yields while decreasing the cost of operations. Stacey Pellett, a farmer from Whispering Mills Farms in Atlantic, Iowa, is scheduled to be this year’s speaker. Robeson wants to continue to educate people in Warren County about farming – a place she said possesses a number of “talented farmers.”

“This is really a thank you to the farmers of Warren County for having done such wonderful things for Warren County over the years. We have a great group of farmers in Warren County – lots of people who have done many things to promote agriculture from Warren County. Whether it be the bean board, or the corn board, or livestock – we have lots of talent here in Warren County,” she said.

The lecture this Wednesday is free and open to the public.
