VFW in Monmouth Hosting Accomplished Military Vet

The VFW in Monmouth will welcome a special guest speaker on Veterans Day. Rachel L. Fails, State Command Sergeant Major for the Iowa Army National Guard, will speak at 10 a.m. about her experience in the military.

Command Sergeant Major Fails has 31 years of military service. In her current position, CSM Fails is the senior enlisted advisor to the Adjutant General of Iowa. She reviews and inspects training activities and monitors and serves as an advocate for all the enlisted personnel within the Iowa Army National Guard.

She deployed in 1990-1991 in support of Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and in 2008-2009 in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. Her civilian education includes an Associate’s Degree in Science-Business from North Iowa Area Community College.

The Veterans Day service at the Monmouth VFW will be held on Nov. 11th at 10 a.m., and will be broadcast live on AM 1330 WRAM/FM 94.1.
