Whiteman and Larson Talk Community Thanksgiving

The 35th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Monmouth will fall on Thanksgiving Thursday this year. Ralph Whiteman and Donna Larson with Faith United Presbyterian Church are prepping for the immense dinner by encouraging anyone wanting to help to get in touch.

“We invite their involvement either financially, physically, or just come to eat or order a meal. We would be glad to help them out,” Whiteman said.

The Church anticipates around 450 total recipients of the meal – 150 of which will be home-delivered. Larson stated that 150 pounds of potatoes, 50 loaves of bread, and 24 turkeys are needed to put on such a large event. The meal is absolutely free, but donations are accepted. All of Monmouth’s first responders are also given a free meal.

The dinner is scheduled for Nov. 23rd from noon to 1:30 p.m. The Church is still in need of volunteers according to Larson.

“They can come Wednesday at 9 o’clock and help with the meal. And then on Thursday, if they want to help on that day, they can come at 9 o’clock,” she said.
