Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is junior cross country runner, John Peterson. John placed 12th at the Peoria Notre Dame Regionals at Donovan Park in Peoria. He was also the 12th fastest runner at the Western Big Six Conference championships on his home course of Lake Storey earlier this season.
Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is senior cross country runner, Andrew Powell. Andrew qualified for the IHSA Elmwood Sectionals with a 15th place in the Mercer County Regional meet. Earlier this season, he placed 9th in the Prairieland Conference championships in Farmington.
Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior soccer goal keeper, Edgar Mora Sanchez. Edgar and his defensive teammates shutout one the most prolific scorers in IHSA history in a state semi-final 2-0 win over Elgin St. Edward to send the Titans into the state championship. All told on the season, he posted 10 total shutouts.
Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior volleyball player, Carly Thompson. Carly was once again a force at the net for the Red Storm all season long. She had 14 kills in a regional championship match against Illini West. Earlier in the week, she smashed 13 kills against Mercer County in the semi-finals.
Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior volleyball player, Tori Olson. Tori filled up the stat sheet and showed her versatility again against Farmington in a regional semi-final match. She hustled her way to nine digs and also handed out six assists. She ended her career among the all-time leading assist-makers in Heat volleyball history.
