Big Weekend Ahead for Downtown Galesburg

Share

The 2nd Annual Galesburg Express – Believe in Magic event will be held this Saturday in downtown Galesburg from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Polar Express-themed open house gives the businesses of Galesburg a chance to showcase themselves, while everyone enjoys a bit of holiday spirit. Jessica Linder with the Galesburg Chamber of Commerce talked about the event:

“We’ve added a breakfast with Santa component. There’s going to be an ice-skating rink that day, a Santa house to take pictures with Santa. We’re adding some decorations this year, lighting up the old steam engine at the railroad museum, and bringing back some of the events from last year that were really popular. We’ll have showings of the Polar Express movie, Christmas carol performances, carriage rides, trolley rides, tree-lighting ceremony as well, so a lot of exciting components as part of that event,” Linder stated.

In conjunction with the Galesburg Express event, the city will also be hosting the “Wass Ale-ing” self-guided beer tour downtown that evening. Iron Spike Brewing Company will be releasing a new special “Galesburg Express” brew as well. Six different locations will take part in the beer tour from 3 p.m to 8 p.m. in downtown Galesburg.
