The City of Monmouth will declare a “Snow Emergency” beginning at 12 PM Friday December 29th. The Snow Emergency will go until 10 pm Friday December 29th. The National Weather Service and local news/ weather outlets have issued a WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY for the Monmouth area that begins Friday mid-morning. PERIODS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED STARTING FRIDAY MID-MORNING AND ENDING AFTER 8 PM ON FRIDAY. The Monmouth Police Department is asking residents who live on Emergency Snow Routes, to move their vehicles from the snow route to facilitate snow removal.
Please be aware that the snowfall amounts could affect traffic and will produce snow covered roads and localized slick spots. *POSSIBLE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS…3 TO 5 inches. The intent of the “Snow Emergency” declaration is to provide a timely notification to residents of Monmouth who may have vehicles parked on identified “Snow Emergency Streets”, to move those vehicles to ensure a timely and efficient removal of snow from those streets. Any vehicles left on a “Snow Emergency Street”, and snow removal operations have started, may receive a parking ticket. Those vehicles that may have been ticketed and remain on the “Snow Emergency Street” for 24 hours or more, will be removed from the “Snow Emergency Street” by the Monmouth Police Department to ensure the “Snow Emergency Streets” can be cleared of snow.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW…SLEET…OR FREEZING RAIN WILL CAUSE TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SLIPPERY ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING.
