Warren County YMCA Opportunities Continue to Grow

Share

It has been nearly a year since the Warren County YMCA opened up their new 24-hour fitness center. CEO Sam Brooks thinks the addition has been just what the people of Monmouth and the surrounding area needed.

“It definitely has helped our membership numbers, and it has given people tons of options of when to exercise and things of that nature. It has been a definite plus for us,” Brooks said.

The Y is also happy to introduce a new boxing class for people with Parkinson’s disease. The class, which is called Rock Steady Boxing, is designed to improve power, strength, flexibility, and speed for Parkinson’s patients.

“We’re only in our second week, but it’s starting to be a big groundswell to growth. There is a huge need out there for Parkinson’s patients. Candy Conard has done a very nice job in getting that going. She’s a certified instructor, so if anybody knows somebody out there struggling with Parkinson’s, we take all the stages – 1 through 5 – and we work with them, so that’s going very well,” Brooks stated.
