Girls Basketball

The Knoxville Blue Bullets improved their overall record to (22-4) on the season and (6-1) in the Prairieland Conference with a 67-14 victory over the Peoria Heights/Quest Academy co-op. The Bullets had three players in double figures, led by Lauren Kavanaugh and Breena Shreeves with 14 points and Heather Jones was right behind with 13 points. With the win, Knoxville is tied with Farmington for second place, with both teams just a half game behind Lewistown in the league standings.

Also in the Prairieland, Elmwood defeated A-Town 47-31 and it was BPC over South Fulton 49-36. BPC’s Alyx Statler and Emma Bradford each scored 16 points to lead all scorers. Brimfield beat Havana 55-37.

Fresh off their 8th straight LTC Tournament championship on Saturday, the Annawan Bravettes won their 46th straight game beating Mercer County 62-39. Annawan is (6-0) in the LTC regular season, a full game ahead of Princeville, who beat Galva last night 55-22.

The West Central Heat are now (8-16) overall and (3-3) in the Lincoln Trail Conference with a 43-34 win over ROWVA. Jessica Smith led the Heat in that one with 11 points.

The United Red Storm fall to Stark County 57-33. Carly Thompson led the Red Storm in the loss with seven point.

Finally, it was Wethersfield over Ridgewood 52-41.The Flying Geese are (19-8) now overall and (4-2) in the Lincoln Trail.

The Macomb Bombers, who defeated Monmouth-Roseville in the 7th highest combined total points for a girls basketball game in IHSA history 100-89 on Saturday, were blown out by Illini West 80-52. With the win, IW has clinched at least a share of the West Central Conference North Division.

Junior High

The Monmouth Roseville 7th grade basketball team defeated Rockridge 38-35 in the semi finals of the Mercer County Regional. Max Cole led the Titans with 23 points. The Titans will play Mercer County tomorrow night at 6:00 for the regional championship. The game is at Mercer County Junior High in Joy. The Titans improved their record to 18-4. Mercer County beat United 48-25 in the first semi-final of the night.

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams were swept by Sherrard, at Sherrard, last night. The 7th grade Titans were led by Lexi Finnicum with 13 service points, including eight aces. The Titans are now (2-2) overall and (1-2) in the Prairieland Conference. The 8th grade were led in their loss by Brooke Taylor with two kills and one ace. Monmouth-Roseville’s 8th grade are also (2-2) overall on the season.

Last Saturday the Monmouth-Roseville 6th grade Shooting Stars girls basketball team swept a pair of games against Farmington and Knoxville. In the first game against Farmington, the Stars cruised to a 38-10 victory. Coraima Izquierdo scored all 12 of her points in the 2nd half to lead the Stars. In the 2nd game against Knoxville, the Stars raced out to a 22-3 lead at halftime and won 38-13. Nine Stars scored, led by Meyah. Hunter’s 10. With the wins, the Stars improved to 9-3 in league play and 11-5 overall.
