Girls Basketball

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan girls basketball team hosted the Alleman Pioneers at the Shoebox at Monmouth-Roseville High School last night in the final game of their 4-game homestand. The Titans were coming off a wild 100-89 overtime loss to Macomb on Saturday in a high-tempo, up-and-down the floor contest. By contrast, the Pioneers slowed the pace last night against Monmouth-Roseville, forcing it into a half court game. Alleman jumped out to a 14-4 lead after the first quarter and stretched the lead out the rest of the game, getting a 60-37 win. The Titans drop to (15-9) on the season and were led by Carly Gillen’s 13 points. Kelci Shelton chipped in with nine points. Alleman’s Gabby Loiz led all scorers with 22 points. Monmouth-Roseville will take on Lewistown at 11:00 on Saturday morning in the Galesburg Shootout at John Thiel Gym on the Galesburg High School campus. Our Sunny 97.7 WMOI pregame show will start at 10:45. The Monmouth-Roseville JV got a 47-17 win in the first game of the night. Riley Huston led the Titans with 14 points.

The Knoxville Blue Bullet girls basketball team also jumped all over the A-Town Lady Tornadoes early in a makeup game from January 11th. The Blue Bullets relentless defense held the Tornadoes to 35 points and the Knoxville offense put up 100 points. Lauren Kavanaugh led Knoxville with 28 points.
