Junior High
The Monmouth-Roseville 7th grade boys basketball team claimed a Class 3A regional championship last night in Joy, Illinois at the Mercer County regional. The Titans defeated the host Golden Eagles 37-35 in a hotly contested ballgame. Justin Brooks led Monmouth-Roseville in scoring with 10 points. Max Cole chipped in with 9 and Jerome Jackson had 8 for the Titans as well. Monmouth-Roseville improved their record to (19-4) on the season and will now play Farmington next Wednesday at 6:30 at Dunlap Middle School for the Sectional championship and a berth in the state finals in Minonk.
The ICS Trojan 7th grade boys will try to duplicate the Titan’s feat of a regional championship as they take on Williamsfield at Williamsfield High School tonight in the Class 1A regional final. The game will tip-off at 6:00.
In Junior High girls volleyball last ngiht, the Monmouth-Roseville Titan 7th and 8th grade teams were swept at home by Rockridge. The 7th grade fell 25-13, 25-22. Leading the Titans was McKinley Rexroat with 8 service points, 2 digs, and 3 kills. The 8th grade lady Titans fell 25-4, 18-25, 25-21. Rileigh Ewing had 2 digs, 12 assists, and 1 ace and Karliegh Ashby had 6 kills, 5 blocks, and 5 digs.
Girls Basketball
The United Red Storm girls lost to Wethersfield 49-32 in a Lincoln Trail Conference game. Carly Thompson led United with 13 points. Brittany Litton led Wethersfield with 16 points.
The Annawan Bravettes ran their winning streak to 47 games and their overall record to (26-0) with a 63-36 win over West Central. Corinne Booton led the Heat offense with 14 points.
It was Mercer County over ROWVA 43-27. Calyn Garza led ROWVA with eight points. Mercer County was led by Emma Coulter with 11 points.
Finally it was Stark County over Galva 40-24 and Princeville blows out Ridgewood 80-30.
In Prairieland Conference action, the Farmington Farmers traveled to Bushnell for a game against the BPC Lady Spartans. Farmington gets the 53-44 win to move to (16-4) overall and (6-1) in conference play. BPC falls to (14-9) and (5-2). The winning Farmers were led by 17 points from Megan Gilstrap and BPC was led in scoring by Emma Bradford with 11.
