Tractor Pull Paramount for West Central FFA

Share

The 2nd Annual West Central FFA Alumni Tractor Pull Auction is this Saturday in Gladstone. A free-will donation dinner starts at 5 p.m., followed by a live auction at 6. Bryan Randall with the organization talked about some of the items up for auction:

“A lot of the local businesses around have donated some really nice products. Anything from seed corn, chemicals, diesel fuel – several bigger items like that,” Randall said.

Parking spaces for the 8th Annual Tractor Pull are also up for grabs at the auction. Prime spots to watch right alongside the track will be available for some of the highest bidders. The pull is scheduled for June 30 at 3 p.m. in Oquawka.

Fried fish and pulled pork sandwiches will be the main course of the dinner. Last year, the inaugural installment of the tractor pull boasted 22 different classes of trucks and tractors. Over 200 hooks or repetitions were completed in just over six hours of pulling time.

The money raised by the auction and tractor pull goes directly to helping the students at West Central involved in FFA gain new experiences and covers travel costs for conferences and meetings. Colyn Crane explained why these events are so important to his organization:

“The money from the tractor pull comes back to the West Central FFA chapter, and we use it to go on trips that help us premiere leadership and gets us to help the community even more. That’s what we’re trying to do is give back to the community and also help further our education in the agricultural industry,” Crane stated.
