Here’s your local high school Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 16th:

Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Jaylin McCants. Jaylin was named to the Galesburg Martin Luther King All-Tournament team for his heroics in a pair of Silver Streak wins. He came off the bench to score 38 points and haul in 16 rebounds in his team’s final two games of the tourney.

Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is senior wrestler, Jared Bolon. Jared went (3-1) in the 145 pound weight class of the Kewanee Invitational. That was good enough to earn him a 3rd place medal. Overall this season, Jared is (17-8) and has shown great leadership for a young Titans squad.

Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is senior boys bowler, Colyn Crane. Colyn placed 22nd individually at the Jerseyville Regional this past week. He rolled a 6-game series of 1116 for an average of 186 pins per game. His highest single game of the day was a 206.

Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is junior boys bowler, Nate Simpson. Nate had a fantastic day at the Jerseyville Regional. His 6-game total of 1271 was good enough to place him 2nd overall. He averaged a 212 for the day and scored a single game high of 223. Nate helped his Tornado teammates qualify for the Mt. Vernon Sectional.

Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is junior girls basketball player, Carly Thompson. Carly led the Red Storm in scoring with 13 points in a narrow loss to Ridgewood in the Lincoln Trail Conference Tournament. She also led the team in scoring in a loss to Wethersfield earlier in the tourney.
