Your WMOI/WRAM/WAIK Area Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30th, 2018

Here’s your local high school Athletes of the Week for the week ending Jan. 30th:
Your Monmouth-Roseville Titan Athlete of the Week is freshman girls basketball player, Kelci Shelton. Kelci scored 20 points in a non-conference game against state-ranked Lewistown at the Galesburg Shootout. She also scored eight points in a West Central Conference victory over West Hancock to end the week.
Your United Red Storm Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Laura Hart. Despite missing the entire season due to an injury, Laura showed her team spirit by being a committed member of the program. She has provided head coach Lisa Gartelos another set of eyes on the bench at every practice and every ballgame throughout the season.
Your West Central Heat Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Nathan Bigger. Nathan exploded for 28 points in Lincoln Trail Conference tournaemnt game against Galva. He made two, 3-pointers and was perfect 4-for-4 from the free throw line. He was also in double figures with 10 points in another tourney game against Annawan.
Your A-Town Tornado Athlete of the Week is sophomore boys basketball player, Lukas Tinkham. Lukas led the Tornadoes with 16 points in a win over Peoria Heights. Included in those points was three, 3-pointers. He also contributed 2 rebounds and 2 assists in the game as well.
Your Galesburg Silver Streak Athlete of the Week is senior girls basketball player, Yvonne Mixon. Yvonne was the leading scorer for the Streaks with 16 points in a win over Stillman Valley in the Galesburg Shootout. She also nearly put up a double-double against state-ranked Rock Island with 9 points and 10 rebounds.
