High-Profile Speakers to Attend Lincoln Day Dinner

The Warren County Republicans will hold their annual Lincoln Day Dinner next Monday, Feb. 12 at the American Legion in Monmouth. Numerous high-profile speakers will make an appearance. Erika Harold, a 2018 Illinois Attorney General candidate, state representatives Norine Hammond and Randy Frese, and an unknown special guest are all scheduled to speak at the event. Cory Burgland with the Warren County Republicans talked about what to expect:

“Cocktail or social hour as we call it is from 5:30 to 6:30. From 6:30 on will be a dinner served by the ladies auxiliary. Generally while we’re having dinner, the speakers will start in. The prices for them are really reasonable I think, especially with the speakers we’re going to have; $25 for single and $40 for a couple,” Burgland stated.

The State of Illinois will be the topic of discussion at the Lincoln Day Dinner. Candidates are gearing up for a Mar. 20 primary election date and Nov. 6 general election date. Burgland encourages those that don’t use their right to vote to rethink their stance on politics.

“So many people are afraid to speak their voices. They’re afraid that they’re gonna be … their neighbor’s gonna be upset with them for speaking that they’re a Republican and their neighbor is a Democrat that people just don’t vote. They just say ‘I don’t wanna deal with it, I don’t wanna vote.’ And that’s not the right thing. Just because you don’t like who is running for Attorney General or Governor, doesn’t mean your judges or your sheriffs or your local people don’t need your vote,” Burgland said.
