Kiwanis' Pancake Day Strives to Help Locally

Share

The 53rd Annual Kiwanis Pancake Day is this Saturday, Mar. 3 at the American Legion in Monmouth from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children 10 and under. The event features all-you-can-eat pancakes and sausage along with milk and coffee. A new addition to Pancake Day this year will be drive-thru service available in the back of the legion.

The proceeds from Pancake Day support many local charities, which include: Jamieson Center, Warren County YMCA, Warren County United Way, Rainbow Riders, Spastic Paralysis Foundation, Operation Christmas Child, Hoby Leadership Conference Scholarship, Carl Sandburg College Baby Talk, Operation Backpack, and United Blessings in a Backpack. Sean Cavanaugh with Kiwanis discussed the importance of supporting local charities:

“We spend the money locally. There’s national things of course that we may get involved in from time to time, but I would say 95 percent of the money that we raise stays local because there are local needs,” he said.

Last year’s Pancake Day served more than 850 people, which was a new record according to Cavanaugh. For more information, visit facebook.com/kiwanismonmouth.
