Local High School and Junior High Sports Update for Feb. 15th, 2018

Boys Basketball

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan boys basketball team made up a game from last week against the Knoxville Blue Bullets. The Titans were coming off a blowout loss to Farmington on Tuesday night. After a slow start that saw the game tied at 10 after one quarter, Monmouth-Roseville led 27-17 at the half. The Titans pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring Knoxville 28-14 and eventually secure a 69-36 win. The Titans improve to (14-10) on the season, while the Blue Bullets fall to (4-21). Monmouth-Roseville’s Jamonny Skinner led everybody with 21 points. Cal Engebretson led Knoxville with 11 points.

Also last night, the West Central traveled to West Prairie High School for the Cyclone’s senior night festivities. Along with honoring their senior players and their parents, the Clones celebrated a win as well as West Prairie beat the Heat 53-50. Bradon Annegars led West Central with 17 points.

It was Ridgewood over Princeville 81-65 and Stark County beating Galva 68-56.

Girls Basketball

The Galesburg Silver Streaks found themselves ahead of the Canton Little Giants 21-20 at the half of their Class 3A Regional semi-final in Macomb. Canton would put together a great second half and blow out the Streaks 59-35, outscoring Galesburg 23-8 in the fourth quarter. The Silver Streaks end the season with a record of (15-16). Canton is now (23-7) and will face Quincy Notre Dame tomorrow night in the regional championship game. 8th seeded QND upset 2nd seeded Dunlap 59-51 in the first semi of the night. Emily Meinert led Galesburg last night with 14 points.

Junior High

The Monmouth-Roseville Titan junior high volleyball teams hosted Orion in Roseville last night for their final home games of the season. The 7th grade lady Titans lost 25-16 and 27-25. Leading scorers for the night were Addie Switzer with 14 service points, 3 aces, and a dig. Paige Richardson had 8 serves, 1 ace, and 2 digs. Overall record is 7-9 and conference is 3-7. The 8th grade lost to the Chargers in 3 sets. Rileigh Ewing had a great game with 3 service points, a block, 3 digs and 11 assists. Cristina Dilley and Karliegh Ashby had seven kills each. Macy Norris with 3 kills, 5 digs, and 10 assists.
