Girls Basketball

Nearly all IHSA girls basketball regional quarterfinal games were postponed last night due to Mother Nature’s decision to dump 4-6 inches of snow in our area. There were a few games played, however. In the Class 1A Mendon Unity Regional, the West Central Heat’s season came to an end with a 63-38 loss to the tournament hosts. Maddie Reed and Carley Lafary led the Heat with 11 points each. Addison Miller was the leading scorer for Unity with 15 points. West Central finishes the season with a record of (7-20). Mendon will now play top-seeded Lewistown tonight at 6:00 in the semi-finals, just before BPC takes on Liberty at 7:30.

It was a battle of Prairieland foes, as the South Fulton Rebels defeated North Fulton 53-38 in the Illini Bluffs 1A Regional. Gabi Kreps led the winners with 13. Lexi Hanlin led all scorers for North Fulton in a losing cause with 19. The Rebels will play Illini Bluffs tonight at 6:00 at Illini Bluffs High School.

Other 1A Regional quarterfinals have been moved tonight, including ROWVA and A-Town in the Stark County 1A Regional.

In Class 2A, the United Red Storm’s game against West Hancock in the regional in Hamilton was postponed to tonight at 7:00. The rest of the regional schedule will remain intact. The Knoxville 2A Regional will move its Monday-Tuesday schedule to a Tuesday-Wednesday format with the championship game still being held on Thursday night. Tonight’s games have Mercer County and Orion matching up at 6:00 and Alleman and Rockridge playing at 7:30.
