M-R FFA Celebrating National FFA Week

National FFA Week is Feb. 17-24. The FFA students at Monmouth-Roseville High School are celebrating with various events throughout that week at school. Dress up days ranging from farmer day to camo day will overtake M-R throughout the week. A breakfast made entirely for the teachers will also be made on that Wednesday morning.

The purpose of FFA Week is to celebrate the organization, but also show the impact it has on members every single day. Ashlyn Quinn with the Monmouth-Roseville chapter shared her advice for any students who have ever thought about joining the organization:

“Do it because you’re going to walk away with so many experiences, so many friends, so many memories. My decision for FFA was more of a – ‘Your whole family did it. Guess what? You are too,’ – but I think even we felt that once I witnessed more of what they do, I would have had to jump on it. You have so much fun,” Quinn said.

The week will wrap up with a group bowling night at Roseville Lanes on Friday. Ag Teacher Jason Kilburn recognizes the importance of the organization and the skills students acquire.

“I dont start with cattle, hogs, corn, soybeans. They drive around Monmouth and Roseville; they see it. So I don’t necessarily want to push them on the production side because unfortunately that side of the industry is shrinking, but ag sales, communication, that side – there’s always room for somebody,” Kilburn said.
